Pamela Donaldson Panzenbeck
A lifelong Glen Cover, Pam is pleased to say “I Love Glen Cove.” She is a graduate of Glen Cove High School and a proud former student of Landing School. Her family has a rich history here and several of them set a great example for her as a child in terms of service to the community that has given us so much. If you know her, you know that she is truly a person who loves to meet new people and be of help wherever she can. She is not afraid of hard work.
Pam has always enjoyed serving the citizens of the Glen Cove and had three successful terms as a member of the Glen Cove City Council. Prior to public service she spent 34 years teaching business and computer education to secondary level students in the Levittown Public Schools.
Much of Pam’s success comes from the fact that she is a true “People Person”—she loves to meet and help people. Mayor Pam was chosen by the Glen Cove PBA to be the Honoree at National Night Out in August of 2024. This past March 2025 she was delighted to receive a Distinguished Service Award at the CEC Health Care’s Tenth Anniversary Dinner.
Pam is happy to say that when she took office as Glen Cove’s Mayor in January 2022, she hit the ground running. So many of our beloved parks and beaches had been left to deteriorate which was absolutely heartbreaking. Morgan Park has undergone a great number of refurbishments. First the steps in the back of the park needed to be completely rebuilt. That was the Panzenbeck administration’s first major accomplishment in the park. The seawall has been repaired and the walkway along the water is new and beautiful. Many of the benches had rotted wood covered with mold. Our DPW workers removed the memorial plaques from them and replaced the rotted slats with new wood, reinstalling the plaques. The upper bathroom received all new plumbing and fixtures. Every building in Morgan Park has received new Hardie board and roofs. The magnificent historic pavilions have been repaired and have new roofs as well.
John Maccarone Memorial Stadium has a new retaining wall separating the upper and lower fields in place of old railroad ties that had collapsed creating a dangerous condition. All new bleachers were placed around the fields. Dugout covers were constructed, and scoreboards were hung. New sprinklers were installed on the upper field (paid for by donations) and old sprinklers on the lower fields were repaired. The lower fields were leveled and fixed. The concession stands had new rollup gates and a beautiful 60 foot flagpole was installed. New backstops have been installed at the fields and all new fencing surrounds the stadium. The basketball court has been completely replaced bringing so much life and activity to that section.
Our golf course boasts a new pro shop/clubhouse and a significant number of steel poles have been installed at the driving range. Our golf course crew has been working diligently to bring the course back to its great standards. Sand has been added to the bunkers, paving of some cart paths has taken place. Bridges are finally being replaced as temporary structures were there for a long time. This fall a new sprinkler system will be installed at the golf course replacing the original system which was approximately 50 years old.
At Stanco Park the pickleball courts have new nets and the handball court was refurbished to accommodate pickleballers as well as handball players. The basketball court and the tennis courts have been completely redone. Every recreational activity in Stanco Park has seen replacement or improvements. A new restaurant, the Marker, has been a homerun.
At Pryibil Beach the fishing pier has been restored. A sand volleyball court has been added to the parking lot. All new sinks and toilets have been placed in the bathrooms along with new trim and vents on the roofs and a fresh coat of paint refreshed the structures. Additional sand has been installed on the beach.
Pascucci field has had the sprinklers repaired, the field has been leveled and the broken lighting has been repaired. New pickleball courts have been added.
Capital projects for three years have included building improvements and maintenance, necessary vehicles and equipment for our DPW department, as well as vehicles and much needed safety equipment for our first responders. That being said, my administration has made significant investments in the police department, fire department and EMS.
Fiscal responsibility is something that is very important to Pam’s administration. Glen Cove has continued to end each year with an operating surplus and a $3.3 million deficit has actually been eradicated in three short years, ending 2024 with an $88,000 surplus.
Eight years ago Pam was asked to join the Glen Cove Memorial Day Parade Committee and the Seven Year Veteran Monument Refurbishment Plan. She is a member of the Glen Cove Rotary Club and joined because she was so impressed with their civic-minded endeavors of generosity and kindness. Together Pam and her fellow Rotarians were able to raise funds to refurbish the Sgt. Ralph Young Monument. The original plaque has been cleaned and repointed and mounted on a beautiful stone and sits proudly in Glen Cove’s Veterans Memorial Park. Many other monuments have been refurbished as well. Glen Cove Rotary honored Pam with a Paul Harris award of which she is very proud.
As the grandparent of a child with Type 1 Diabetes, Pam was happy to be part of the Cooking For a Cure fundraising event. In addition, she is a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and the St. Rocco Rosary Society. In the past she has co-chaired twice yearly blood drives, taught religious education, volunteered at SCO Family of Services, and served as a Cub Scout Leader.
As a councilwoman Pam was honored to serve as the Liaison to Glen Cove Youth Board and Senior Center, member of Glen Cove Beautification Commission, as well as the Senior Advisory Board, and the Glen Cove BID were some of the responsibilities that came with the honor of being a councilmember. Pam has served on the fundraising boards of the Youth Bureau and the Glen Cove Sage Foundation.
Before entry into elected office, Pam decided to expand her volunteer activities and community service. In addition to many charitable endeavors, Pam enjoyed being a member of the Glen Cove Hospital Auxiliary, an active parishioner of St. Patrick’s church, and St. Rocco Feast Ticket Booth Chairperson.
For pleasure Pam enjoys playing golf with the Glen Cove 9 Holers, relaxing at Pryibil Beach and was a charter member in the Community Garden.
Pam is married to a true gentleman, Bob Panzenbeck. They are blessed with three grown children; Bobby, Billy, and Laura. Best of all, they are the grandparents of seven.
