City Council Candidates
James Greenberg
James Greenberg is honored to have the opportunity to be a candidate to represent the citizens of Glen Cove on the 2025 Glen Cove City Council ballot.
A proud Glen Cove resident for almost 25 years, Jaime has been passionately involved in the community in various capacities since 2002. As an adoption attorney, Jaime understands and is sympathetic to the challenges and headwinds that families face on a day-to-day basis at all socio-economic levels. As the proud father of two children, Ariana and Sean, that graduated from the Glen Cove City School District, Jaime understands the challenges and the opportunities that confront our younger community members. He wants to make sure that we leave them an even better Glen Cove, a Glen Cove where they can thrive and be happy and successful in the hope that they will raise their families here and continue to build when it is their turn to take the reins.
Jaime has a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Skidmore College where he was also a four-year varsity soccer player. After college, he studied law at Hofstra University where he met his wife Janice. Armed with his law degree, he joined and eventually took over his family adoption law practice (Greenberg & Greenberg), specializing in complex adoption cases.
When he is not working to help people achieve their dreams of building a family, his biggest passion is public service and making Glen Cove a great place to raise a family. Jaime joined the Glen Cove Republican Committee in 2002. Over the years Jaime became an active committee person leading to his nomination as a Glen Cove City Council candidate in 2009, running alongside the Honorable Judge Paul Meli who ran for mayor and Pamela Panzenbeck, our current Mayor, who was running for City Council at the time. Shortly after the campaign, Jaime volunteered as a coach, coaching his young daughter Ariana’s soccer team in the Glen Cove Junior Soccer League. A few seasons later, he was asked to join the Soccer Board. After serving as a board member he was nominated and appointed to the executive member position of Corresponding Secretary. Jaime was the recipient of the 2018 Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Volunteer of the Year Award; over the years he continued to coach and assist in running the Intramural Program during which he became the Intramural Coordinator and Vice President of GC Jr. Soccer. In 2024, Jaime became the President of Glen Cove Junior Soccer. Jaime continues to volunteer coach teams from Kindergarten to Middle School along with his duties as Board President.
In 2019, Jaime was asked to run for the countywide position of Nassau County Legislator, an experience that raised Jaime’s profile in the Party and exposed him to countywide issues such as bail reform. During this time, Jaime continued his work with the Glen Cove Republican Committee and the Glen Cove Republican Club, eventually achieving the position of Club President. Jaime was appointed to the Water Authority of Nassau County in May of 2022. The mission of the Water Authority of the North Shore is to explore the acquisition of the privately held water system in the North Shore. In 2023, Jaime was tapped to run for City Council with Pam Panzenbeck and later that year was appointed to the Glen Cove Planning Board where he has served for almost two years. The Planning Board has given Jaime a real opportunity to help shape the future of Glen Cove from many perspectives including the local economy and quality of life for Glen Covers.
Jaime is a board member of the Glen Cove Hall of Fame and the Glen Cove YMCA. He is also a member of the Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce, a frequent volunteer for the Glen Cove Beautification Committee and is an active member and volunteer at Congregation Tifereth Israel.
Philanthropically, Jaime is the director of People Need Caring, a charitable non-profit organization that was created by his parents over 50 years ago that has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars to programs and charitable organizations doing everything from helping to build orphanages in South America to donating to NSLIJ Hospital to fight ovarian cancer on Long Island. Jaime is also a board member of Gift of Adoptions, another charitable organization whose mission is to provide adoption assistance grants to complete the adoptions of children in vulnerable circumstances – giving them permanent families and a chance to thrive.
Jaime’s 20+ years of dedication to the people of the City of Glen Cove has made him realize that if he is to help the City continue to build upon the great successes of the last two years of the Panzenbeck Administration, he needs to move to the next level. As a member of the City Council he will fight to keep the momentum going and truly believes that through hard work, advocacy and passion he can prove that he truly believes that actions speak louder than words.
