City Council Candidates

Daniel Grabowski

Dan Grabowski is honored to be running for Glen Cove City Council alongside Mayor Panzenbeck and her entire ticket.  A lifelong resident of Glen Cove, whose family first settled here well over a century ago, he is committed to honoring the rich history of this City and continue the work done by Mayor Panzenbeck to preserve the quality of life that makes Glen Cove such a special place to live!

Coming from a family with a long history of giving back to the community, Dan has had the values of giving back and volunteerism impressed upon him since childhood.  Like many other Glen Covers, Dan spent much of his childhood playing baseball at “the Stadium” and learned countless life lessons on the diamond.  During that time, he realized the best way to give back to his community was also through serving as a volunteer with Glen Cove Junior Baseball and Softball.  Dan spent countless hours throughout the years as a volunteer for that organization, coaching many children who have come through that organization and providing other support to the league.  Today, he is a Member of The Board of Zoning Appeals.

Dan received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Hofstra University.  After experiencing the greatest honor of his life – the birth of his daughter – he returned to his alma matter and obtained a Juris Doctorate from The Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.  In addition to his studies, he turned to his commitment to service and sought to make an impact in the lives of others as well.  He provided pro bono legal services through the school to clients who could not otherwise afford counsel, and also served in multiple capacities that allowed him to provide advice and mentoring to the school’s community.  Due to his achievements in school, he was selected among a handful of students as a Pro Bono Scholar – the prestigious program created by the New York Court of Appeals.  In this capacity, Dan was able to dedicate the last few months of his schooling to representing low-income clients.

As an attorney, Dan’s practice is focused on defending healthcare, corporate and professional clients in a wide variety of legal actions in courts all across New York State.  Through his litigation experience, he has honed numerous skills which will also serve him as a member of the City Council.  These include: listening to all opinions, no matter who they belong to; standing firm when situations get tough; and taking accountability.

As for why Dan believes he can make a difference in Glen Cove, he points to the life lesson his father gave him at a young age, which he continues to live by: “If you want to get something done, you have to give it to a busy person.”  As a member of the City Council, Dan will work tirelessly to preserve the quality of life that makes Glen Cove such a special place to raise a family.  A Glen Cove lifer who is now raising his own child here, he is dedicated to continuing the successes and momentum brought by Mayor Panzenbeck to ensure continued success for all generations.  As a millennial, a parent and someone who knows this community inside-and-out, he will use his unique experiences to give a voice to all Glen Covers and advocate for:

-        Common sense fiscal policy and smart public spending;

-        An environment for sustained growth of current businesses throughout Glen Cove while attracting new investments; and

-        Continued revitalization of our parks and public spaces.
