| SOS GLEN COVE, a not-for-profit corporation that was organized to educate the general public about the impact of the proposed development of Glen Cove's waterfront, has announced its endorsement of Reginald ("Reggie") Spinello for Glen Cove Mayor in this November's election. The group was formed by concerned citizens who, although in
favor of development of Glen Cove's waterfront, are opposed to the presently proposed high rise and high density development because of its negative impact upon our environment and community, and given the lack of public involvement in its planning. Almost 1,300 people have already signed the group's petition which states opposition to the present proposal and which is intended to demonstrate the lack of public acceptance therefor. In advising Spinello of its endorsement, the organization's Executive Board thanked Spinello for sharing his vision for the future of Glen Cove, and expressed its pleasure that his objectives regarding the development of the Waterfront were similar to that of SOS. Their letter went on to state that "…your strong leadership will bring our city a much needed break from years of inaction, neglect and mismanagement". Spinello commented that "I am pleased to receive the unqualified endorsement of such a fine organization, started, not for political purposes, but by concerned citizens who seek to better our community. I am honored to be the candidate who is felt to best represent the membership of SOS Glen Cove, and the almost 1,300 people who have thus far signed their petition". Reggie Spinello is the candidate of the Republican, Independence and Conservative parties and will appear on lines B, C and D of the ballot, along with his City Council running mates, John Hanley, Carol Sucharski, Grady Farnan, Linda Perlman, Paul Meli and Kerry Catanzano. | Spinello at St. Rocco's Golf Outing | Mayoral candidate Reggie Spinello and fellow parishioners Albert Morra and Michael Carerra enjoy the day during the St. Rocco's Golf Outing held on August 27th at the Glen Cove Golf Course.
